To provide a strong authentication experience for users, IBMid and Acoustic Campaign use two-factor authentication.
What is two-factor authentication?
Two-factor authentication, also known as 2FA, is a type of multi-factor authentication and an industry best practice for secure access. Acoustic uses two-factor authentication with your IBMid to provide secure access to your products, including Campaign.
What happens during the login experience?
When logging in for the first time, after you enter your email address and password, you will be prompted for the first authentication factor. A one-time code will be sent to you via email. The email may be delivered to your spam folder. Enter the code to complete the authentication; you'll need to enter the code within 20 minutes. You will then be prompted for a second authentication factor. A second email will be sent to your email with a different authentication code.
Additional information about IBMid's two-factor authentication process
- The IBMid validation process uses a special fingerprint measured against the user's workstation and configuration along with a risk engine to determine if a two-factor challenge should be presented to the user.
- You won't be prompted for a one-time passcode for subsequent access unless there is a detectable change in the characteristics of the account, device, or browser used for access.
- Currently, the only way to receive the passcode is through email, so you must register an email address that is valid and accessible.
