You build your Acoustic Exchange workspace by registering endpoints that represent products and solutions from Acoustic Exchange and Acoustic Exchange partners. You must have valid login credentials for the products and solutions whose Acoustic Exchange endpoints you register in your Acoustic Exchange user account.
Acoustic Exchange allows business solutions to send or receive event or audience data only at the request of an authorized Acoustic Exchange user. To enforce this control, each Acoustic Exchange user account must register endpoints for the solutions it wants to use with Acoustic Exchange.
Each endpoint registration identifies the requesting Acoustic Exchange account and a specific business solution or application. When you register a business solution or application with Acoustic Exchange as an endpoint,Acoustic Exchange generates a unique authentication key. Each time the solution or application communicates with Acoustic Exchange, it must provide this key as proof that it is interacting with Acoustic Exchange with your permission.
In Acoustic Exchange, the product or solution that provides or receives event or audience data is referred to as the endpoint provider.
Registering a solution or application as an Acoustic Exchange endpoint defines important endpoint details in the following areas.
- Authentication: Registration uniquely identifies the endpoint provider and the requesting Acoustic Exchange user by generating an authentication key that is specific to the registration. Acoustic Exchange accepts the authentication key as permission by the Acoustic Exchange user to exchange data on behalf of the Acoustic Exchange user account.
- Description: The endpoint provider submits a description that Acoustic Exchange uses to represent the solution or application in the Acoustic Exchange user interface.
- Access: During registration, Acoustic Exchange connects with the endpoint provider and Acoustic Exchange users provide user access credentials that are required by the solution or application to allow the connection.
Each endpoint provider requires information from you to complete the endpoint registration process. Endpoint providers require different information to add their endpoint to your Acoustic Exchange user account. Depending on the endpoint that you are registering, the Endpoints tab either provides instructions that describe how to contact the provider to submit the required information, or an interface that you can use to enter registration information directly.
Manage your endpoint
You must register each endpoint separately with Acoustic Exchange to activate the endpoint in the Acoustic Exchange UI.
The methods that you use to update the endpoint depend on the endpoint configuration method.
If you used the Integration Manager to configure your endpoint as an application-based endpoint, you can use it again to make the necessary changes. Changes that you make to the base application automatically propagate to all of the Acoustic Exchange user accounts that have registered the endpoint.
