Error message when updating contacts
You have tried to update the database to add new field values, but it does not work. The error message reported is you do not have permission to update contacts in this contact source. What does it mean?
Resolving the problem
There are two possible areas where this error can occur, at the database or org settings levels.
Database-level: Because that database was not set up to allow UI imports, only API imports. To resolve this issue, an org admin user would have to enable these options under the database settings for the user to import to these databases. To enable these settings, do the following:
- Open the database that you are using or want to use.
- Click Settings.
- Click the Recurring Database Imports tab.
- Set up Import.
- Click Save.
Organizational-level: A user cannot create new databases when your org security settings do not allow users to create new contact sources through the user interface. An org admin can resolve this.
- Go to Contact Source Management Restrictions under Security Settings.
- Check the boxes for UI and save.
