Excluding IP addresses in standard reports
You can use segments to exclude specific IP addresses from standard reports. For example, you might want to exclude an IP address that you identify as a bot.
To exclude IP addresses in standard reports, create a segment that excludes the IP address and then add the segment to your standard reports.
First, go to any standard report, click the Segment edit icon, and then click Create a new segment in the Search segments window. Define the segment by providing a name, such as "Exclude IP addresses", segment category, and description. Select Technical properties > IP address as the attribute, Is not as the operator, and then in the value field enter the IP address that you want to exclude. To exclude multiple IP addresses, enter a comma-separated list of IP addresses in the value field (or you can click + and then select AND). To share the segment with other users, make the segment public by clicking Public. When you've defined the segment, click Save.
After you create the segment, add it to the standard reports where you want to exclude the IP address.
Excluding IP addresses in ad hoc reports
You can use filters to exclude specific IP addresses from ad hoc reports. For example, you might want to exclude an IP address that you identify as a bot.
To exclude IP addresses in ad hoc reports, create a filter that excludes the IP address and then add the filter to your ad hoc reports.
First, go to an ad hoc report or create an ad hoc report by clicking Create report. Click the Filters edit icon and then click Create a new filter in the Search filters window. Define the filter by providing a name, such as "Exclude IP addresses", filter category, and description. Click + Add criteria, select Dimensions > Technical properties > IP Address > Is not, and then enter the IP address that you want to exclude. To exclude multiple IP addresses, enter a comma-separated list of IP addresses (or you can click + Add criteria and then specify the OR operator). To share the filter with other users, make the filter public by clicking Public. When you are done, click Save filter.
After you create the filter, add it to the ad hoc reports where you want to exclude the IP address.
