Cancel an email send

You must act quickly to catch an email send in active emails. Administrators can view the progress of emails that are sent from their organization, as well as pause, stop, and restart sends in progress.

After the sending process starts, you can't retract the message from recipients who already received it. You can view the number of recipients who received the message.

Cancel pending status

After an email is canceled on the Scheduled and sent view, the email displays a status of cancel pending.

This normally happens to an email that is sent to a query. Sometimes a query might run for a long time (similar to query calculation data job) to pull all matching contacts. When an email is canceled, the mail server receives it and stops sending from the cancel email point. At that point, the system labels the email status as cancel pending until the query runs. Once the query completes, the status is changed to sent. An email that is in the cancel pending status should not be sent to anyone during this time.
