Move your contacts from one track to another based on rules with a move to track action at the program, track or step level in classic programs.
In classic programs, you can use move to track for all contacts or just those who match the rules defined in the rule builder. However, you can only move contacts to a track they have not been in before they joined the program and you cannot move a contact to a track above the existing track.
Contacts are not routed to a different track unless there is a move to track. For example, if you have a track that contains steps and ends in an email, contacts remain in that last step unless you add a move to track.
Tip: Multi-path decision routing in programs canvas can reduce the need for move to track for some use cases. Move contacts from their current location to an existing path using the redirect feature.
View the number of contacts in tracks without sending an email
You can see how many contacts are populated within tracks and steps without activating your program.
- Set up the tracks without configuring the emails. Contacts remain in this track until an email is inserted and configured.
- Define '# wait days' to more than 1. This populates the contacts in tracks, however it does not send the email until number of days has passed. You can then change this back to the desired number of days you want to wait before you start sending emails.
Note: Contacts can be in multiple programs, but they cannot be in multiple tracks within the same program.
