Use email settings to activate or deactivate mail throttling, disclaimers, default archive URLs, tracking image location, personalized headers, default contact sources, and copy/pasting of content. Manage the settings carefully to ensure that your organization is using Acoustic email in the exact ways that you expect.
Go to Settings > Organization settings > Mailing settings to manage the organization's email settings.
Note: Make sure to calculate your query before you select it as a contact source for the normal test, or it will not be honored by the test send maximums set in your subscription’s Email settings.
Set the maximum number of contacts allowed for test sends
Generally, you should limit test emails to 100 contacts or fewer. If the you do not want to restrict or limit test sends, set the value to zero.
Tip: In Email settings, An organization administrator can remove TEST at the beginning of the subject line for your internal test sends. Click Edit and uncheck the box with the Test Contact Indicator label. When you remove TEST from the subject line, Campaign does not place TEST:: in the subject line and does not include instructional text in the email.
Allow per email throttling
Throttling sets a maximum number of emails sent per hour. Consider using throttling to control the amount of traffic that comes to your web site because of large emails.
Campaign looks at the number of contacts for a single email and the organization's mail throttling system setting.
For example, if your organization's mail throttling setting is set to 3,000 sends per hour and you want to send an email to 6,500 contacts at 10:00 a.m. EST, Campaign will throttle to a consistent rate and complete the email send at approximately 12:30 EST, two and a half hours after the send began.
If the email is less than the maximum sends per hour limit, Campaign sends the email immediately.
For multiple mailings
For multiple sends going out at once, each mailing will be throttled separately. For example, if your organization level email throttling is set for 150,000 per hour, and you have many large emails sending at once, then each mailing will be throttled to 150,000 per hour. Not all throttled to 150,000 per hour.
Set the maximum number of sends allowed per hour
For large emails, Campaign recommends limiting the number of sends per hour. Use the value zero (0) to indicate no throttling. This means that emails are sent as quickly as possible.
Disclaimer required to send
Consider entering a CAN-SPAM compliance statement here that is included in all emails. If this option is selected, users cannot send an email without including the personalization string in each email body. You can configure a disclaimer and use it without requiring its inclusion in emails. For example, CAN-SPAM requires an opt-out mechanism and a physical address in all email messages.
Tip: You must re-automate your template to the automated message group after you update the general disclaimer in organization settings. The disclaimer can be found in the Email settings area which is within Organization settings.
Tracking images for opens
Choose where you want your tracked images placed in your email. You can also choose Do not include.
Archived email URLs
If a contact clicks on the URL of an archived email, the link will no longer work. But if you add a URL in Settings > Organization settings > Mailing settings contacts will be forwarded to the URL specified. We recommend setting up redirects for your URLs. Depending on the link type, you can set different URLs where you want to direct the contact. For example, you could point to a landing page stating that this email has been archived and can no longer be accessed. You could point to a web form for opt-out, opt-in, or preferences. Remember these URLs are at the organizational level, not the database level.
- Archived click-to-view URL
- Archived forward URL
- Archived opt-out URL
- Archived opt-in URL
- Archived edit preferences URL
- Archived other URL
Enabled personalized headers
Select this option if you want to allow personalization and dynamic content in the from name, from address, and reply to address fields on the email template. If an organization's from domain settings are restricted, users cannot enable personalization or dynamic content for the from address and reply to address fields on the email template.
Default contact source from a template on send/delivery
This setting determines whether the system automatically attaches the contact source used in a email template to the send emails draft.
- Setting is 'Yes': By default, this setting is turned on for all users in the organization. In the email draft, if a contact source is attached to a template, Campaign automatically selects the contact source in the email send draft. The email send user can manually change the contact source.
- Setting is 'No' or unchecked: The email draft's contact source field is empty. Email send users must manually select a contact source.
Enabled copy/paste of styled content
When enabled, this setting means content copied from the same template or another source keeps its formatting, images, and links. When this setting is disabled all content pasted into the email editor is plain text - including formatting, images, and links. This is an organization-level feature, not user-specific, and it is disabled by default.
To enable the setting, go to Mailing settings under Organization settings. Check the option to Allow copy/paste functionality for email body content that includes images and styling.
Enable scripting
When enabled, you are able to allow scripting to be used in transactional mailings.
Blind carbon copy
The blind carbon copy (BCC) feature allows the sender of an email to conceal a recipient from other recipients. When the BCC feature is enabled at the Organization level, you can receive an exact copy of the personalized emails you send to contacts in a database, query, or contact list. BCC inclusion occurs at send time.
To access these settings, take these steps.
- Check the Enable Blind Carbon Copy box.
- Click Save.
