A VMTA (Virtual Mail Transport Agent) server is used within a database or query to balance your IP addresses, and avoid setting off spam triggers within an email client. You can use a VMTA within a contact source or database in a program to pass contacts through your program. Consistent sending patterns, and cadence will help make sure your messages are going to their inbox rather than spam or junk folders.
The VMTA value cannot be edited, but the organization administrator can select which VMTA server is used as the default server and provide a friendly name that is easy for the organization to recognize, such as 'Transaction server.'
Note: Selecting a VMTA for emails that are typically used for transaction responses may cause IP addresses to get temporarily blocked and interrupt Transaction email.
The default VMTA server is used for all quick tests, independently of the email template or the contact source associated with your template. The VMTA server can also be changed at the database and query level if required.

Note: If you segment a query into new or multiple segment queries, you must go into each new segment/query and assign your VMTA as it does not carry over from the original query.
