According to the European Union privacy regulations, Campaign clients are required to disclose to website visitors a list of cookies and tracking features used in landing pages and web tracking.
European Union also mandated that European Union marketers are also required to obtain consent from visitors to your websites to store identity cookies and to capture web tracking behavior that is identifiable.

After the opt-in request has posted, and if a visitor accepts the web tracking opt-in request the system tracks their web activity and the request message does not appear in future visits.
If a visitor rejects the web tracking opt-in request, the system does not track web activity, except for "submit" events on landing pages. Also, the opt-in request continues to appear in future visits. Currently, all visitors will have to opt-in to external site web tracking and landing page web tracking separately. If a visitor clears their cookies, the opt-in request appears again. Tracking stops until the visitor opt-in again.
If a visitor goes to your site again using a different browser, and if the visitor accepts the web tracking opt-in request and then visits the same site using a different browser, the opt-in request appears again. and the tracking does not take place in that browser until the request is accepted.
Add the web tracking opt-in to an external site
Campaign marketers must consider adding a tracking opt-in mechanism to the top of all tracked web pages on their external sites.
Implement web tracking opt-in with web tracking to your external sites
- Add your web tracking code to all of the external pages you want to track.
- Get the opt-in request code.
- Make sure you contact your legal department to verify the opt-in request message complies with EU law.
- Add the following custom meta tag to all the pages that contain the web tracking code.

- Paste the opt-in request code to all pages containing the web tracking code and the custom meta tag.
Editing the web tracking opt-in request

You can edit the web tracking opt-in request in the design view or source view. Additionally, it can be in the language of your preference. It is important to note that the current web tracking opt-in functionality cannot discover and automatically serve up the viewer's language. If needed, include Java to enable this function.
Enable web tracking opt-in on landing pages
Acoustic Campaign EU marketers should consider adding a tracking opt-in mechanism to the top of all tracked web pages on their landing pages sites. You can choose to activate this feature on any of your landing page sites.
Enable this setting in landing pages
- Open the Landing Pages.
- Select a site. Go to Site Settings and expand the Optional Site Settings.
- Check Enable Web Tracking Opt-in Permission in the Require Opt-in For Web Tracking section.
- Click Edit opt-In Request to change the web tracking opt-in request HTML to suit your design, language, or wording needs.
- Save your changes and publish your landing page site.
- Copy the site URL into a browser to view the opt-in request.
- Repeat as needed for all of your published landing pages.
