Use the content builder to add and edit content to HTML and text email bodies. You can copy and paste styled content, such as images and fonts with color, directly into the content builder editor. You can copy from Excel and paste into the editor. To copy styled content from Microsoft™ Word, use the Paste from Word option in the editor toolbar to remove any Microsoft code that might be harmful for email HTML.
Tip: If you want to reuse content, save it in the asset library.
We recommended that you do not copy content directly from the web or from email clients. If you do use this content, be sure to test the email thoroughly.
Add content
- Open or create an email.
- To add content for HTML email bodies, use the HTML editor. Place your cursor in the editor and use the editing tools.
- To add content for text email bodies, use the text editor. Click Text and type or paste your content.
- To import existing HTML code into an email body, take the following steps:
- Click Import HTML.
- Select the option you want to use to import the HTML. You can either import a .zip file that contains all of the images and HTML pages or you can import HTML and manually assign links to each image. Importing a .zip file is recommended.
- The .zip file name can't contain unsupported characters, such as:
& ; , $
. - The HTML file in the .zip file must use a lowercase extension, for example, content.html.

- Click Next.
- Browse to select the file to import.
- If you chose the manual import option, assign the image links.
- Save your email. If you re-import the HTML manually before saving the email, the links that you assigned in the previous import are not saved.
Attach files
You can include a link to non-image files, such as PDF and .ICS files, that are stored your asset library. Use the File download link to attach files from the asset library to your email.
- In the email, highlight the text.
- Click the Edit/Insert button.
- On the hyperlink links tab, click the Link Properties and select file download as the link type.
- Click the Select File button and choose a file.
- Name the link and Save.
Note: The single mailing report will not track a download embedded in the email without additional settings. To make sure that your attachments are tracked, complete the following steps. In your email, go to Advanced Settings and clear the Embedded in Mailing option.
