Moving Tealeaf canisters requires moving the session data files and their indexes and updating the appropriate configurations of the changes.
Note: This procedure should be scheduled during off-peak hours. During the period in which the canister is disabled and disconnected, all captured hits are dropped.
Moving the Canister Search Index data
You can move the Canister Search Index data to a new location.
Through TMS, open the Canister configuration.
- Log in to the Portal as an administrator.
- From the menu, navigate to TMS.
- Expand the Canister node.
- Click Canister configuration.
- In the Config Actions panel, click View/Edit.
The Canister configuration is displayed.
- On the Canister Services tab, change the value for
Location of Files to be Indexedto the new location of this directory. Do not edit any other fields. - To save changes, click OK.
- In TMS, expand the Session Indexer node.
- Click Index Service configuration.
- In the Config Actions panel, click View/Edit.
- The Session Indexer configuration is displayed.
- On the Indexing Options tab, clear
Build Temporary XML In Memory. - Edit the value for
Path for Temp XML Fileto be the new directory path to the temporary XML file location. - Select
Build Temporary XML In Memory. - To save changes, click OK.
Moving the Canister Session data
You can move the Canister session data.
- In TMS, expand the Canister Server node.
- Click Canister Server configuration.
- In the Config Actions panel, click View/Edit.
The Canister Server configuration is displayed.
- Set the value of
LOCAL_DIRECTORYto be the full path to the parent directory of theCANISTER.dbsdirectory. Be sure to include the final backslash (\ ) in the value.
Completing the canister move
After either moving the canister search index data or moving the canister session data, you can complete the move by following the procedure documented here.
To complete the canister move:
- Back up the existing canister directories.
- From the Windows Start menu, select Stop all Tealeaf services.
- Through the Windows™ Services Control Panel, stop the Transport Service.
- Move the Indexes directory and/or the parent directory of the
CANISTER.dbsdirectory to the new locations specified in the above configuration settings. - After the files and directories were moved, you should remove the original directories that you backed up.
- From the Windows Start menu, select Start all Tealeaf services.
