With cxOverstat Snapshot you can capture page states from live web pages and save them to the Snapshot Gallery. Saving captured page states to the Snapshot Gallery simplifies access to cxOverstat data for selected web pages.
You can group snapshots into stacks, which is similar to organizing them in folders. Stacks are collections of snapshots. They allow easy access to overlays for specific pages and your most commonly used data. You can add tags to snapshots and stacks to make it easier to search for these items later on.
Installing the cxOverstat Snapshot Capture extension
You must install the Firefox extension to take snapshots.
You will be prompted to install the extension when you log in to cxOverstat Snapshot using Firefox.
- Log in to the Portal in your Firefox browser.
- Go to Analyze in the top navigation bar and select Snapshots from the drop down menu.
- Select Click to Install.
The extension appears in your browser toolbar.
Note: If the extension does not install, follow the troubleshooting steps in the dialog to fix the problem. - Click Close.
Customizing your keyboard shortcut
You have the option of using a keyboard shortcut to take snapshots. The shortcut is a series of keystrokes that can be customized to your preferences.
To customize your keyboard shortcut:
- In the right sidebar, click the dropdown arrow next to Settings.
- From here, you can enter the shortcut of your choice in the form field.
Taking a Snapshot
You can take snapshots by using the keyboard shortcut or the extension. With the keyboard shortcut, you can use mouse actions to trigger certain events, such as click or hover elements, while simultaneously capturing a snapshot of the screen. Using the extension, you can capture the state of a web page by clicking one button.
Either clear your browser cache before a page load or disable browser caching entirely to avoid gaps in the snapshot. To disable caching in Firefox, set your browser to "Do not remember history."
- Go to the web page for which you want to take snapshots.
- Click the Firefox extension.
- If you are not already logged in, a pop-up window is displayed, prompting you to log in to the Portal.
- Press your keyboard shortcut to take a snapshot. This creates a snapshot and saves it to the Gallery.
- After you take a snapshot, a menu is displayed, where you can enter information about your Snapshot. Enter the name, add any tags, and move the Snapshot to the appropriate stack.
You can access your saved snapshots through the cxOverstat Snapshot Gallery.
Working with snapshots and stacks
With the cxOverstat Snapshot Gallery you can view your collection of snapshots, edit snapshot properties, view snapshot overlays, delete snapshots, and organize snapshots into stacks.
- You can rename a snapshot to improve organization and make it easier to locate snapshots.
- Right-click the current name as displayed in the Gallery.
- Enter a new name for the selected snapshot.
- You can add tags to snapshots to improve organization and make it easier to locate snapshots.
- Select Preview for the stack you want to work with.
- Hover over the selected snapshot. Click the tag icon.
- Add tags to the snapshot by clicking the blue button labeled Click to add tag and type the tag name.
- You can view overlays on a snapshot to analyze data.
- Choose a snapshot.
- Choose an overlay to display by using Select Overlay.
- You can move snapshots from the Snapshot Gallery and add them to stacks.
- In the Snapshot Gallery, hover over the stack and click the plus icon.
- Select the snapshots you want to add to the stack.
The selected snapshots are highlighted blue.
- Click Add to Stack.
Working with tags
You can use tags to organize snapshots and locate information more easily when analyzing data.
- You can create and add tags to snapshots and stacks to improve organization.
- In the left panel of the Gallery, right click and select Create new tag.
- On the top of the left panel in the Gallery, click Create.
- To rename a tag, right-click on the tag and select Rename.
- You can add tags to a snapshot can help improve organization and make it easier to locate specific snapshots when analyzing data.
- In the right sidebar, hover over the thumbnail of your selected snapshot.
- Click the tag icon and select Click to add tag.
- Select from the list or type the tag name.
- To apply a tag to future snapshots, hover over the selected tag and clickRepeat.

- In the Gallery, hover over the stack.
- Click the tag icon and select Click to add tag.
As you add more tags, Tealeaf automatically suggests potential tags for you based on tags that are already in the database.
