You must perform several tasks to improve administrative access, improve performance, and minimize interference by anti-virus software.
- Set up a local user account.
Set up a local user account called
TeaLeaf
with local administrator rights on the server that hosts Tealeaf CX. This local user runs Tealeaf CX processes and services.Adding the
TeaLeaf
user on the Tealeaf CX server eliminates issues with password changes that might arise from using a domain administrator's credentials or the main local administrator's account and password. - Configure virus scanning software to exclude Tealeaf directories from Real Time File Protection. This eliminates possibility of the anti-virus software interfering with the operation of Tealeaf software.
At a minimum, configure the virus scan to exclude the directories in which Tealeaf creates and opens files in locked exclusive mode, which include the following directories:
- Canister
- Indexes
- Spool
- Logs
The locations for these directories are determined when you install the software. To find these directories after an installation, examine the following paths:- Tealeaf install directory
- Tealeaf_install_directory
The value is recorded in the Windows registry under the following entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TeaLeaf Technology\TeaLeafPath
- Canister
- View the file Tealeaf_Install_Directory\Ctree\Server\ctsrvr.cfg
The Canister directory is specified in Local Directory.
- Logs
- Typically, Tealeaf components write logs to the Logs directory.
- Indexes
- Spool
- Log File directories are specified in
TealeafCaptureSocket.cfg
file in the Tealeaf install directory. The location is specified in the SpoolDir property value. - Decouple
- Log File directories are specified in
TealeafCaptureSocket.cfg
file in the Tealeaf install directory. The location is specified in the LogDir property value.Note: If this value is commented out or unspecified, the directory defaults to the Logs directory inside the Tealeaf install directory. - Backup
- The Backup directories are specified in the BackupDirectory property in the following file: Tealeaf_install_directory\tools\TLBackupCFG.xml.
- To improve system performance, disable the following services on the server that hosts Tealeaf CX server:
- NNTP
- FTP
- SMTP Relay
- Disk Indexing
