As an Adobe Analytics user, many times you have had to copy your Tealeaf session ID from Adobe Analytics and paste it into the Tealeaf session search to replay sessions and analyze your customer’s experience. Now, you can access Tealeaf session search and replay directly from your Adobe Analytics workspace by enabling links to Adobe Analytics.
Configure your Adobe Analytics settings
To successfully integrate Adobe Analytics with Tealeaf, you must be an Adobe Analytics user and logged into Adobe Analytics before you launch the Tealeaf Firefox Extension. Then, name a unique session identifier, such as, but not limited to, TLTSID. We covered the necessary steps for this integration, but to learn more about configuring Launch, see https://docs.adobe.com/content/help/en/core-services-learn/implementing-in-websites-with-launch/index.html
- Open the Launch feature in Adobe Analytics and create a data element that will capture your unique session identifier from cookies.
- An administrator will need to create a rule to populate a conversion variable (eVar) with TLTSID in the organization settings. This same name will populate for all users in the extension and be used when enabling links in the Tealeaf extension.
- The Custom Insight Conversion Variable (or eVar) is placed in the Adobe code on selected web pages of your site. Its primary purpose is to segment conversions success metrics in custom marketing reports. An eVar can be visit-based and function similarly to cookies.
- After the data element and rule is ready, configure the website and create the data layer. Then use the Adobe Debugger extension to check if the conversion variables are populated with TLTSID.
- Include tealeaf.js (configure UIC) in the pages of your website. Then configure the collector URL and application key to POST data to your org.
- Find the embedded code for your Launch property and add it to the HTML document. The recommended location is in the <head> of the HTML document.
- Add an Adobe Debugger extension in order to check if the collection of data for conversion variables are working.
The TLTSID can take some time to populate and allow Adobe Analytics to sync.
After step 3 is configured and the Adobe Debugger populates the values, go to the analytics section and view reports. You may then add the reports to a workspace in Adobe Analytics. The dimension value in the Adobe Analytics report gets converted into a link that takes the user to a Tealeaf session replay.
Configure your snapshot extension settings
After you’ve completed the Adobe Analytics steps, you can use your existing Tealeaf extension to enable links with Adobe Analytics..
- Click the gear icon on the right side to open your settings. Check the "Enable links to view user sessions" box.
- You will only need to validate the settings once for the named conversion variable. By default it will be "TLTSessionId". The name should be in sync with the conversion variable defined in Adobe Analytics.
- Make sure the Tealeaf URL given is correct and you are logged into the portal.
- When the settings are configured, click Save to enable links. Changes will immediately be reflected in the link.
When the settings are configured and saved, the breakdown of session variables in the table form report will be enabled. When you click on the session ID you will get a popup. Click the OK button and it will navigate you to the search results with fragmented sessions after logging in to the portal. For more details about why fragmented sessions happen, see "Session fragmentation.”
Note: Only sessions which are in completed state are returned in Tealeaf session search from Google Analytics reports.
