The autoresponder campaign uses a one-time SMS response to a specific keyword. It works well in many types of interaction, such as product, promotion, or service information, instantly providing your customers with the information they need.
Before you begin
To launch an autoresponder campaign, you'll need to determine a keyword to use and a method of advertising the keyword and code (phone number) combination to engage your customers. If you are using a dedicated code, you need to set up and maintain SMS campaigns that process STOP and HELP keywords. For more information about setting up short and long code, go to SMS provisioning section.
Configure an autoresponder campaign
- From the navigation bar in Campaign, go to SMS and group messaging > Campaigns. Click the arrow next to the Create campaign button and choose your desired campaign.
- Provide campaign details:
- Give your campaign a relevant name.
- If you have codes of different traffic types, you will see the Traffic type field in your form. Select Transactional, Promotional, or Transcrub according to your provisioned code.
- If you send SMS to customers in India, you will see the Entity ID and Template ID fields. Complete them based on the information in the DLT portal.
- From the dropdown menu, select the code provisioned for your organization. If your organization has an alphasender ID you will see two different dropdowns. One to select the sender code, the other to select the incoming code. You cannot choose the alphasender ID as the incoming code, because they are only one-way.
- Assign one or more keywords unique to your SMS campaign.
Note: If you use a code which is shared among several customers, you must register each keyword with the provisioning team in order for them to appear in the drop-down.
- If you want your campaign to start and end at specific date and time, click Set duration.
- Select Indefinite if you want your campaign to run without a specified end or Limited to choose a specific date and time.
- Decide when you want your campaign to start: click Upon activation or On specific date. The other option will activate the calendar and timer field. Select the date and time you want your campaign to start.
- Decide when you want your campaign to end: click No end or On specific date and complete in the same way as the start date and time.
- To subscribe users to other opt-in campaigns, click Select campaigns and choose the opt-in campaign from the dropdown menu. You can add more than one by clicking Add another campaign.
- Click Create message and enter the reply message in the text field. Personalization affects the character count of the delivered message. Verify your database field names when using personalization.
- (Optional) Select Use character mapping to automatically replace characters that are not supported by the GSM standard and might decrease your character limit. To understand how different characters affect the available message limits, go to SMS message length and character encoding.
- (Optional) Check Shorten links so any long URL listed in the message will be shortened and then sent to mobile users. We highly recommend this option as it enables you to make the most of the character limit. Also, shortened links are trackable.
- Review your campaign before you activate it.
- Click Activate campaign and the toggle if you want to activate right away. You can also activate the campaign from the SMS campaigns list view.
Note: If a customer sends a message to your code, they will be added to the database as a contact.
