If clicking different "Add to Calendar" links in your email on an iOS device repeatedly opens the same event — usually the first one clicked — you are encountering iOS Calendar app caching behavior. This is not caused by your email template or Acoustic Campaign.
Symptoms
- Your email contains multiple calendar invitation links (ICS files)
- Clicking the first calendar link on iOS opens the correct event
- Clicking a different calendar link in the same email opens the first event again
- The issue does not occur on Android, where each link opens its corresponding event correctly
What causes this
The ICS files are correctly formatted, properly hosted in Acoustic's content library, and each link points to the correct event. The unexpected behavior is caused by the iOS Calendar app caching the first event opened during a session. Subsequent clicks on other calendar links return the cached event instead of loading the new calendar data.
How to work around it
- Close the Calendar app completely between clicking different calendar links, then return to the email and click the next link.
- Clear the Calendar app cache from iOS Settings if the issue persists after closing and reopening the app.
- Use Apple Mail instead of Gmail on iOS, as Apple Mail may handle calendar links more consistently.
This behavior is specific to iOS and reflects how Apple's Calendar application manages cached data. No changes to your Acoustic email template or calendar links are required.
