Acoustic Campaign Programs do not support direct selection of custom opt-out URLs within the Email step. In one-off mailings, custom opt-out URLs can be selected during mailing configuration under Delivery Options — but Programs do not provide an equivalent option. This article explains how to work around this limitation.
The limitation
Classic Programs have more limited delivery settings than standalone mailings. As a result, Program emails automatically use the default opt-out behavior and do not allow specifying different custom opt-out URLs per email step. This is particularly relevant for organizations that manage multiple brands or group companies, each requiring a unique unsubscribe URL.
Workaround: Use the URL link type in email templates
- Create a separate email template for each company or brand that requires a unique opt-out URL.
- In each template, insert the unsubscribe link using the URL link type instead of the Opt-out link type.
- Manually enter the company-specific opt-out URL in the URL field — for example,
https://company1.com/unsubscribe. - Use the appropriate template within the Program based on recipient segmentation or company affiliation.
This approach redirects recipients to the correct company-specific unsubscribe page.
Impact on click tracking
When using the URL link type for opt-out links, be aware that:
- Acoustic Campaign treats these links as tracked URLs
- Clicks on custom opt-out URLs are counted and logged in email reports
- There is no option to exclude specific URL link types from click tracking
As a result, opt-out clicks will inflate your overall click-through metrics. This differs from the native Opt-out link type, which handles unsubscribes separately and does not count them as standard link clicks.
Best practices
- Document which templates use custom opt-out URLs so your team can account for inflated click metrics
- Factor opt-out clicks into your analysis when reviewing Program performance reports
- Submit an enhancement request through the Acoustic Ideas Portal to request native support for custom opt-out URLs in Programs
