Landing Page Personalization in Test Emails

I set up a landing page that is connected to a contact list. The landing page contains an image of a certificate and two personalization fields so that first and last name appear on the certificate. The personalization works in preview in the landing page section.

Personalization does not appear when I send myself a test email that links off to the landing page (which is published). I am using a contact from the contact list that the landing page is connected to to test the personalization. Is there something else I need to do to test the personalization correctly when the landing page is sent through a mailing?
