Autofill without risk of data leak?

  • Hi Joe, thanks for reaching out. We are working to make forms a bit more modern and to utilize the most up-to-date information that our users have on their customers, while maintaining a strict adherence to security and compliance regulations.

At the moment, a tracked link in an email is built to identify the recipient of the email. If a recipient chooses to use the email client’s forward capabilities to forward that email, there is currently no way to alter the hyperlink to become specific to this “new” recipient. An alternative would be for the email to include an official “Forward to Friend” link, however there is no guarantee that the original recipient would use that over email client forward.

  • Thanks for your reply Sam - that's a shame but i understand. Are others who use autofill not essentially in breach of data protection regs then?

Interested to hear more about what you guys are working on with modernising your forms.

  • Hi Joe, there are no concerns related to forwarding an email, because it is the responsibility of the individual who forwards an email containing personal information to ensure that they have the proper consents in place to have and use that personal information. Acoustic, as the email service provider, is not responsible for complying with any applicable privacy regulations related to "refer-a-friend" email programs.

As for what we're working on and thinking about for forms, you can review and submit ideas related to forms in our ideas portal!
