The Link Analytics overlay ranks the relative popularity of the top links on an applications screen by percentage of visitors who click or hover over links. This overlay is useful in assessing the order and positioning of links to ensure that visitors are being properly cued to select the objects of greatest utility.
Each data point in the overlay is associated with a metric type and shows the top 20 instances by default. For each data point, you can also see its percent of the total. Click on a data point to see a summary of all metrics and hover on any metric to create a report based on that data
You can:
- Apply a new range of dates.
- Toggle between metrics.
- Customize the number of elements that are displayed for each metric. and set highlighting to interactive elements only.
- Filter the data on the overlay by any dimensions that are associated with the data.
- Go from the overlay directly to the reports that are used to create the metrics data points on the overlay.
- Select Snapshot gallery.
- Select a Snapshot.
- Optional: If you want to change the date range for the data that is displayed, select the calendar icon, and update the date range.
- Select the Link Analytics overlay.
- Select the View that you want to use.
- Optional: Select the Zoom factor that you want to use.
- Select each metric that you want to display.
You can choose all of the metrics.
- Click Apply. The metric displays. You can see the link analytics in the snapshot. Click the link to view the details.
- To customize the metrics value, select the Customize icon.
Select Top or Bottom, and enter a value. Click Apply.
If you want to see analytics for interactive elements only, select the Analyze interactive elements only check box.
- To filter the information by a dimension:
- Select the Filter icon to see a list of dimensions for the data.
- Select a dimension.
- Select a dimension value.
- Select Filter.
The dimension and value that you selected are used to filter the data on the overlay. The next time that you select the Filter icon, the dimension that you specified is highlighted and the values that you selected are shown.
- Optional: Export the overlay
- Select Export as > CSV to export the overlay as a CSV file.
Exporting the overlay in CSV format can make it easier to analyze and manipulate the interaction data for elements, and potentially merge the interaction data with other data points, to gain a deeper understanding of how customers are interacting with the page.
You can also share the CSV file with users who might not have access to Acoustic Overstat.
- Select Export as > PNG to export the overlay as an image.
After exporting the overlay as a PNG file, you can share it with other users in your organization.
The exported image includes the current metric(s), date range, and any filters that you selected.
- Select Export as > CSV to export the overlay as a CSV file.
