Reporting in Acoustic Campaign does not collect the resulting email address when a recipient sends a message by using Forward to a Friend in an email.
Collecting email addresses in this manner violates the CAN-SPAM Act.
Note: In the United States, the Federal anti-spam law is called Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act (CAN-SPAM). Marketers must comply with CAN-SPAM to legally send marketing emails. Violators can and have been successfully sued by the FTC.
CRMi and forward recipients
When combining Acoustic Campaign’s CRM integrations and Forward-To-a-friend features sync errors may occur for collected email addresses added to the Acoustic Campaign flexible database.
Example Salesforce Integration Error:
Your account has experienced a sync job failure.
ORA-01403: no data found
ORA-06512: at "SDM.MARKETER_RECIPIENT_MANAGER"
Email addresses collected by the forward-to-a-forward feature are added to an Acoustic Campaign CRM integrated flexible database as CRM Contact Type “Other”. Our standard sync engines only work for Leads and Contacts and if an “Other” record’s “CRM Enable Sync” box is checked - the sync will fail with the above message because it's not a Lead or Contact.
Create Acoustic Campaign CRM Contact Type queries to look for “Other” records, export the query results, and compare them with records in CRM sharing the same email address.
Query Name: CRM_Other_Records
- Editable Criteria
- WHEN CRM Contact Type is equal to 0
QueryName: CRM_Other_Records Set To Sync
- Editable Criteria
- WHEN CRM Contact Type is equal to 0
- AND CRM Enable Sync is equal to 1
Acoustic Campaign CRM integrations won't automatically sync and market to forward recipients, they are marked as "other". If a forward recipient needs to be added to the database and integration, the CRM admin needs to add them manually in CRM first.
If duplicates exist, the “Other” record needs to be merged with the valid Lead on Contact record in Acoustic Campaign.
