Update a goal
Besides creating a new goal, you can use the Goals page to make changes to the existing goals. The Actions menu for each goal provides you a variety of actions such as edit, duplicate, delete, refresh or view the details of your goals.
Edit a goal
If you want to edit a goal that is currently being used in active rules, you have two options:
- You can choose to edit the original goal. In this case, a confirmation message informs that editing the goal will override the previously collected data for this goal, and in case of A/B test, it may cause delays in reaching the statistical significance.
- If you do not want to edit the original goal, you can create a copy of the goal and then edit the copied (duplicate) goal as needed. In this case, the edited goal will be tracked as a new goal after it is published.
If you want to edit a goal that is not being used in active rules, the performance report for the goal prior to the edit date will be based on the original definition of the goal.
To edit a goal, complete the following steps:
- Log in to Acoustic Personalization and click Goals.
- Click the Actions menu for the goal you want to update, and click Edit.
- You can update the goal details such as the name, description and the goal parameters.
- When you click Save, a message appears informing that updating the goal may affect the rules it is already associated with. You can either choose to save the edits, or cancel.
Duplicate a goal
You can create a copy of an already existing goal, so as to avoid creating the same goal again from scratch.
To create a duplicate of a goal, complete the following steps:
- Log in to Acoustic Personalization and click Goals.
- Click the Actions menu for the goal you want to update, and click Duplicate.
- A copy of the goal you had selected appears, with the same goal parameters. By default, the duplicate goal has its name as "Copy of - " the original goal name. If required, you can modify the goal name and other parameters.
Delete a goal
To delete a goal from the Goal Library, complete the following steps:
- Log in to Acoustic Personalization and click Goals.
- Click the Actions menu for the goal you want to update, and click Delete.
- A warning message appears, with details of the rules currently using the goal. Note that deleting a goal also removes all the reporting information associated with the goal. You can either choose to delete the goal, or cancel.
