As a marketer, you can create goals for your personalization rules in order to measure the success of personalized content against the control group. Using goals helps you to quantify the impact of personalization on the channel.
Similar to segments, goals are created at Organization level, and hence can be used across all the channels in that organization.
Goals are optional, that is, it is not mandatory to create a goal for each rule.
Each rule can have one primary goal and up to 9 secondary goals associated with it. You can edit the goals associated with a rule at any time. You cannot use same goal more than once, for the same rule. For example, if you selected Goal G as a secondary goal for a rule, you cannot use the same goal G as another secondary goal for the same rule.
When creating a goal, you can use all the Acoustic Exchange events and their attributes. Also, you can use multiple AND / OR operators in the rule builder to create complex conditions.
You can create the following types of goals.
Conversion goals
Create a Conversion goal when you want to base your goal on the number of visitors who were successfully converted. All the visitor interactions are taken into account and the visitors that were converted during previous channel visits are also measured as a part of this goal. Conversion goals can be used across the zones of the channel.
Engagement goals
Create an Engagement goal - also known as Click goal - when you want to base your goal on the total number of visitor engagements - For example, clicks on the elements of your channel. This goal measures the click events on the combination of a channel and a zone. Hence, the Engagement goals will be available only if you had created a goal for the particular combination of channel and the zone, and are not available across the zones.
Value goals
Create a Value goal when you want to base your goal on a specific attribute of a visitor behavior on your channel.
As marketer, you would be interested in understanding the effect of personalization on your channel, in quantifiable (numeric) values. Using a Value goal, you can measure the return on investment by tracking the values for your key performance indicators (KPIs), for example, total number of sales, recommendations sales, and % of Total Sales.
In the Create goal page, when you select Value goal, you need to select one of the metrics to calculate the success of your value goal.
- Total
Total number of successful value conversions for all visitors across all the sessions - Number of visitors
Number of successful value conversions per unique visitor - Number of unique sessions
Number of successful value conversions per unique session - Number of events
Number of successful value conversions per behavioral event
Value goals use Acoustic Exchange events that have numeric attributes. The currently supported events are:
- Add Item to Cart (Cart Add)
- Cart Abandonment
- Cart Abandonment Item
- Cart Purchase
- Cart Purchase Item
Next, you should specify whether you want to track the Increase in the value or Decrease. By default, this option is set to Increase.
When creating a Value goal, you can optionally create complex conditions to specify the values for one or more attributes.
Here are a few examples that illustrate how these various terms tie into each other:
- Create a Value goal to Increase the Order Total (event attribute) of Cart Purchase (event) for Average per Visitor (success metric) conversions where the Order ID (attribute) contains (condition) 12345 (value).
- Create a Value goal to Increase the Quantity (event attribute) of Cart Purchase (event) for Total (success metric) conversions where the Order total (attribute) is more than (condition) 50 (value).
- Create a Value goal to Decrease the Quantity (event attribute) of Cart Abandonment Item (event) for Average per Session (success metric) where the Base price (attribute) is less than (condition) 200 (value).
