When a template is deleted in Acoustic Campaign, it is moved to the Deleted tab in the template library. You have 30 days to restore, move, or copy it before it is permanently removed by the system.
However, if a template is associated with a contact source (database, query, or contact list) that is being deleted, the deletion is final with no recovery option. This article explains how both scenarios work and how to protect templates before deleting a contact source.
How template deletion works
Deleting a template directly
When you delete an email template from the template library, it is moved to the Deleted tab within the template library. From here, you have 30 days to restore it before it is permanently purged. Standalone templates not associated with a contact source are only affected by direct deletion and will not be impacted by database deletions.
Deleting a contact source that has associated templates
If a template is an associated item of a contact source — such as a database, query, or contact list — and that source is deleted, the template is permanently deleted along with it. There is no recovery option in this case.
How to protect templates before deleting a contact source
- Open the contact source you intend to delete and check its Templates tab to see which templates are associated with it.
- For any template you want to keep, open the template and go to Email Settings.
- Select a different contact source and save your changes. This reassociates the template and removes it from the source you are about to delete.
- Once all templates you want to keep have been reassigned, proceed with deleting the contact source.
Note: If you do not reassign associated templates before deleting the contact source, those templates will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
