The Compare feature provides a convenient and efficient way to visualize and compare standard report data from two separate date ranges so you can see the different performance between the two separate date ranges. With Compare, you can add event data from two separate date ranges to your standard report.
- Open the standard report for which you want to add a separate date range.
- Click the Calendar icon to set the focus date range.
- Click Apply to generate report data for the focus date range.
- Click the Compare icon.
- Enter a date range in the Compare Date Range calendar.
For comparison purposes, the range that you enter for the Compare Date Range must be similar in length to the range entered for the focus date range. For example, if the Focus Date Range is for the previous 5 days, then the Compare Date Range needs to be 5 days.
Having date ranges of a similar length allows the Compare feature to accurately plot the data for comparison on a single axis.
- Click Compare to add the data from the Compare Date Range to the report.
You can apply different chart types to the data.
To toggle to the original report (the one without the comparison data), click Compare.
Note: All date ranges selected will be temporary unless you select Save Report. With temporary changes, you can move between the date ranges without losing the temporary changes. Temporary changes will remain until the page is reloaded or refreshed.
After adding a separate date range to your standard report, use the interactive legend to see how event data from the Focus Date Range, compares to the event data from the Compare Date Range, all from a single user interface.
For example, use the interactive report legend on the standard report to compare event data from the Focus Date Range, to event data in the Compare Date Range.
To open the legend for the report, use the chevron () in the upper right corner. By default, both the focus and compare date ranges are selected in the legend. The report displays data from both date ranges on a single chart on the same axis. Control the data that displays in the chart by selecting or deselecting the metrics in the legend.
