Event manager
You can find and configure event-related objects to monitor all aspects of your website. To search for a session from the event manager, complete the following steps.
- From the home page, you can search directly from the top search bar. This will display a list of sessions from the past 24 hours.
- To drill deeper, you can select session search from the side navigation of the event manager.
When in a session search, you have multiple options to choose from to narrow down your search results.
- Type in your session key word or phrase.
- Then select the session status, app profile, or time frame.
- Push enter or click the search button.
This will generate a list of sessions to view. Click the play button on any session from the results to view the session replay. From there, you can enable mouse movements. It is important to stay on top of data outliers and inconsistencies in order to identify how errors are affecting your customers. By using session search in the event manager, you can identify and resolve pain points from the root cause.
Event tester
We also have an event tester that you can use to test active events and hit attributes, even if they are saved in draft mode. Additionally, you can manage your events before they are active. This is a great way to test an event against established successful and unsuccessful events. It’s important to validate whether your events are fired every time when your business conditions are met and are not fired under any other circumstances. To search for a session from the event tester, complete the following steps.
- Select Event Tester from the side navigation.
- Select your categories, tags, and an event object.
- Click Next.
Note: You can view saved sessions or search for a new session.
- You can choose from saved sessions or set the criteria for a session and search for it.
- Select up to five sessions to test the selected event object/s.
- Click Next.
After you have clicked next, your search results will be displayed. Before you select a session/s to test you can view any session in more detail and replay if needed by clicking the play button. Then select the session/s to test by following the steps below.
- Select the session/s you want to test by clicking the checkbox.
- Click Next to view the results of the event tester.
- From here you can expand the preview to review the information.
The event tester lets you see not only the event (and its values if it fires), but also the triggering and values of contributing step/hit/session attributes and other events. As these represent the firing condition inputs for an event, they are also what you need to fix the event in the case an event fails.
